Question Transmission?

My roomate just notified me that she found out she has genital herpes. I'm just wondering if this puts me at risk seeing as we share a great deal of stuff...I know she has used my loofa and razor, etc. Is this transferable?

Re: Transmission?

Hello,
You shouldn't have anything to worry about, but moving forward as a extra precaution do not share razors or loofas (although the soap alone would kill the virus).

The virus is not transmitted via inanimate objects so you should be fine

Re: Transmission?

Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease, so unless you have sex with someone who has it, I don't think you need to worry. Having herpes and knowing how much it freaks people out has led me to just not tell others that don't need to know. It can't even live on a towel, so if I had an outbreak and dried off with a towel and you used it, you would NOT get herpes. In general, it is unsanitary to share razors and other objects that draw blood like toothbrushes etc. Not because of std's though.

There is a chance though if someone used a towel directly after you and it was still damp that they could catch the virus if enough was rubbed off. Although that chance is very slim it is still possible, a dry towel would be a different story but moisture keeps it alive a little longer.
