Just got test result... Doesn't seem very helpful

I notice others on this board are getting results with actual values. My test results say this:

HSV 2 IGG EIA ............. POSITIVE (A)

And that is all. My doctor says I have HSV-2 and started me on an antiviral medication due to some redness and small ulcers near the opening of my urethra.

My question is, should there be something I ask him to test for? Or is this plenty?

Hello,
The IgG herpes type specific will normally give you values. If you are having an outbreak down below and you are positive for type 2 there is no big deal to get the numeric values.

Just curious though did the dr do a swab test on you or was it a blood test?

It was just the blood test. My doctor said the swab test would not be helpful as it could come back negative but be a false negative. I don't know that that is the best advice. I didn't disagree. I was upset at the time.
