Question about transmission
Long story short, it turns out that my husband has oral hsv 1, which he passed to me, and now I have genital hsv 1. According to the numbers, he has had it for quite some time, and mine is a new infection. We have been together for over 10 years. If he has had it for a long time, why am I just getting it now?

His can lie dormant or it could so have happened that he 1 was getting ready to have an outbreak or 2 was just shedding the virus on his mouth without an actual sore forming or present.. Herpes can be spread through viral shedding where the virus is active on the skin or surface without an actual outbreak.. It's hard to know when a person is shedding the virus because most times it has no symptoms.. Herpes is tricky that way u never truly know when u are safe
