My girlfriend has herpes 2 and we are researching safe sex options. We have agreed I will always wear a condom, and we will both wash before and after sex. But I am wondering what else we can do, since she could be shedding any time and we wouldn't know.
I am thinking that if we were to both use a massage oil on the boxer shorts areas of our bodies, an anti viral one like tea tree oil or something, would that help prevent the virus transferring to me? Oils that sound promising are Tea Tree Oil, Lemon Balm, Lavender, coconut oil.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has some knowledge or experience to share regarding this.
Okay, well first and number 1, oils of any kind can damage condoms, make sure you dont apply any near sex, 2, herpes is a strong virus, for instance, you may be covered there but um, your testies are not and could get the virus, but by all means im not saying dont wear a condom, it still is helping! 3 your girlfriend could go on suppressive therapy witch is taking anti virals you need a doctor to fill out the prescription. there is no 100% safe way to keep safe unless you dont have sex at all
but please note, this is a big thing, DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY. getting this virus will change alot, you may think you might never break up with your girl but things do happen, i learned this the hard way. You dont always need sex in a relationship.
Something else you may want to consider is keeping your boxers on while using a condom. I mean I am not sure how comfortable she will be with it but it will offer you more protection.
In my opinion if someone isn't comfortable with the virus or knowing there is a chance of them getting it they shouldn't be in the relationship. That is just my opinion though because I think ultimately someone gets hurt normally the person with the virus.
