| Herpes? Is that a cure? the levels of the virus in my blood are really low.
Hello everyone, Im a 18 years old boy and I live in Brazil.
I dont know hwo to start describing what happened to me but ill try.
So i recently had a balanopostitis, i treated that and the doctor recommended a circuncision, so i got circumcised and it was just awesome, it was all healed in 25 days. so 2 weeks after it was all healed, the infection started again, i started taking antibiotics but they wouldnt work for some reason, so the doctor asked to take some blood tests and among them, he asked for "search for HSV IgG/IgM", i dont know if thats how doctors ask for them in english, cuz i live here in brazil.
So i got the results in the other day and the IgG was positive and the IgM was negative.
The method used to detect the antibodies in the blood was "enzymatic immunoassay" and the result was like this
Herpes Simplex IgG = 22 U/mL of blood
Reference Values:
Negative= under 16 U/mL
Unknown= between 16 and 20 U/mL
Positive= above 20 U/mL
So mine was just 2 units about 20, doctor said theres a 80% chances of cure.
He prescribed a medicine called "Famciclovir" which was very expensive, he told me to drink a 250mg pill every 8 hours during 5 days and he also prescribed a topic cream called "penciclovir" for me to use in the infection on my foreskin twice a day.
So I was wondering, are there chances of me getting really cured?
He said these outbreaks may never occur after these five days of medicines.
