Descernible origin of herpes and the oral sex question.
Ok so, I'm wondering if some of my fellow educated herpe people can help me out.
I am interested in determining the possible origins of my highly irritating case of oral herpes. I starting seeing my ex-girlfriend again about a year ago. This was right after she had a brief fling with someone who had genital herpes. They had protected sex and unprotected oral sex while there was no sign of outbreak. Ok. Seven months after we had been seeing each other, I had my initial oral outbreak, and it has been almost constant (though much less severe) since. She had her first ever outbreak about a month after I had mine, and our herpes have been jiving ever since.
we both have frequent but minor outbreaks (just one or two small herps at a time around the mouth.)
Two questions! kinda
given the information and the timeline above, it is likely I had randomly contracted HSV1 and then passed it on it her? Or did she contract oral HSV2 and put it on my face, and mine face was just the first to have a breakout? is that possible? I know much of this stuff is indeterminable, but I feel like I have enough info to get an estimate. my intuition seems to tell me that I picked it up arbitrarily, but who knows.
Second, considering we both have oral herpes, do we need to worry about oral sex? I know not to give/get head when I have open wounds on my face, but should this be a point of anxiety since we've already been exposed to the virus?
