Does Crestor have to be taken at night?

On several medical and other websites, I've read that Crestor should be taken at night to get the best results. Why? Because cholesterol is supposedly manufactured by the liver primarily at night. Anyone else heard this? Has anyone's doc told them to take it at night? Mine didn't but I'm wondering if she just forgot this detail.

Re: Does Crestor have to be taken at night?

I've read that the statins' effects are most pronounced during the sleeptime transport of LDL from the body to the liver so the earliest thought was that before sleep was the best time to take them. But many of the studies are showing no difference in the lipid results WHENEVER they're taken.
I'm old school and from force of habit take my Lipitor around 10PM, but I doubt it makes much difference.

NO! since Crestor has a very LONG "half life" (20 hrs), you can take it at ANY TIME. Zocor has a very short half life and should be taken at night for the reason you stated.

Not at all. Crestor lasts for 21 hours so taking it at night really won't benefit you any more, but some other statins do need to be taken at night.

Re: Does Crestor have to be taken at night?

I've also seen a large Lipitor study that showed no difference in lipid improvement whether taken at night or in the morning....I still do it at night...force of habit!

Loosely tied to the topic:
Can anyone think of a reason to take Co-Q10 WITH one's statin as opposed to 12 hours away from it?
