High Cholstrol - High Cholesterol Message Board

I had been complaining about being so tired, and falling asleep during the day, so I went to the doctor to see if my thyroid was playin gup.
I had the blood tests, he said the thyroid was fine, it has been up and down for the last 12 months, I have got Hashies.
Then he told me, that my Cholestrol was to high, he said that it is 7, instea dof being around 4.
I am 5ft 6, weigh 60kgs, and a very active peson, I dont eat fat ,soft drink, I am not a drinker, I eat low fat marg grill all my meats, I do smoke.
I had high Cholestrol a few years ago, it was 6.2, and I did nothing diffrent to my diet, and it went back to normal.
Maybe it is Heridity, any anwers to this.

Stop smoking.
No margarine. That's the worst kind of fat.
Cut down (or out) white flour and sugar.
Vigorous daily exercise.
Substitute fish or chicken for red meat and don't eat fried food.
For fats, use olive oil, no hydrogenated shortening.
Drink a glass of red wine every day.

P.S. What's Hashies?

hashies is a thyroid problem.
I get a lot of excersise. as I work in a hospital, and I walk at least 3ks a day, I dont eat any fried food at all, I dont drink, I eat chicken once a week, and red meat at least 3 times a weel, I dont eat bread, or marg, so I think it could be family connected.
I had high cholstrol, a few years ago, when I was 41, I was going through menapause at the time and after m enapause it went back to normal.The doc said my diet was fine

If it´s Familial Hypercholesterolemia(FH) most likely there will be a history in the family of heart problems. And if that´s the case maybe you should get tested for FH. If the result comes back positive you will need to be put on some medication, to control your cholesterol. But in some cases even with medication it can be almost impossible to get the cholesterol levels low enough.
