Has anybody been able to find the home cholesteral tests in the drug store anymore? When the were available did anybody find them accurate???

They simply aren't reliable enough for me to want to buy one.

Consumer Reports says not to waist your time/money with them as most of them are very innacurate.

I tried one a couple of years ago (bought it through an online drug co.) but found it so far off the reading I got from my doctor's lab that I didn't buy any more. It tested total cholesterol only.

I've used BioSafe a couple of times.
I have no doubt that it is as accurate as whatever is used by my own HMO. All the values were either exactly the same as my HMO results or were in the range indicated by a third test source (health fair). If you shop around on the Net you can get em for around 28 bucks per panel.
(Also the kit makes a great gift for someone whose health you care about

My husband and I using Lifestream and it seems fairly accurate for total cholesterol. Mine is 177, which is the same as it was 30 years ago while his is 208, which was within a few points of the last test done by his doctor. Now that he is off Lipitor we plan on testing monthly to see if his total goes up.
