U sound like me, I can't take statins at all. They tried me on Lipitor and within 3 months my GI track was a mess, took them almost 6 months to get that under control. After they tried me on Baycol, oh boy, that really had me so tired and sore I barely made it to the mailbox and back, and climbing stairs was a nightmare. Both affected me within about 3 months, so I just chucked em and said NO MORE!!
My numbers are about borderline, usually TC runs 235-250, and the LDL runs about 145-160. 3 months ago I started with oatmeal in the a.m., 1/4 tsp. of cinnamon, and I drink ALOT of green tea. Last month my numbers went from:
TC....239 to 198 LDL....161 to 126
I don't know if it was a fluke or what, but at least it will keep my dr. off my back for a little while. I also started eating yogurt for a snack at nite, and eating cottage cheese, low fat instead of my reg. American cheese, as I am a cheese lover. Upped my vitamin C to 1,000 mgs. instead of just 500, and also eat some mixed nuts for the good oils. Like I said, it might have just been a fluke, but had to try something, as I will not go on another statin, my quality of life is more important to me then living longer in pain.
Good luck, and I'm sure others will give U some ideas as to what they do for some natural ways to lower the numbers, as alot of us can't take statins.
Best wishes, keep us posted......
BTW...How high were all your numbers, like LDL, HDL and Trigs.? Sometimes different things affect different numbers.
