I think CardioChek models are probably the best but they are NOT cheap. THe tester will set you back around $200 (I believe) and then each test (for cholesterol, HDL, or triglycerides) requires a test strip that costs between $2 and $3.
Most people say the ststem is quite accurate.
I've never used the system because of its high price but several people in this forum have reported reliable and convenient results.
I judge it to be most useful to micro manage HDL's and find out what makes the level go up and what down!
If I fell into a pile of money I didn't need, I buy the system, but alas my health insurance costs a bundle and as long as I have it, I might as well let the doctor draw and test my blood.
