| Latest Test Results/Very Confused
10 months ago my cholesterol results were as follows:
Total: 241
LDL: 172
HDL: 42
Trig: 135
My latest results are:
Total: 238
LDL: 176
HDL: 46
Trig: 80
10 months ago, I weighed 172. I now weigh 177. I am a 31-yr. old male, and am 5'10". Admittedly, while I did make some dietary changes (more fruit/vegetables, much less cheese, dairy, red meat, etc.), I did little or no aerobic/cardio exercise.
Could my 5 lbs. in weight gain be the sole cause in my LDL going up 4 points? All of my other numbers, in both tests, were normal except for the LDL, which is high. Is weight loss the best way to get this number down? What causes a high LDL and normal other numbers?
I really want to get this down with diet/exercise, not statins, especially at my age. I have no other risk factors-don't smoke, don't have diabetes, no high blood pressure, no history of early heart disease in the family, etc.
