Reaction to Lipitor?? - High Cholesterol Message Board

Wondered if anyone has had anything similar:
I have been on 10mg Lipitor for about 6 weeks.
For the last 4 days i have felt on and off quesyness, light headed,
and generally crapy. Also have had tingling in my arms and my hands
have felt cold. Went to the Dr. yesterday. All vitals normal &
blood work and liver all normal. He said to give it another 3 days, if
not better, would probably have me stop taking the lipitor for 2 weeks.
If this is the statin, how quickly should I notice a difference after stoping>

You might notice a difference in a few days, or it might take 6 months. It depends on the amount of damage you have had so far. Check on the internet to statin induced myopathy. (i'm not saying the damage is from the lowering of cholesterol, but with your symptoms it is certainly something to consider)

After 6 weeks on Lipitor, you should know in a couple days whether you are having a reaction to the drug or not. Give it a two week test though. If the symptoms go away, then retest with the drug...if they comes back again you'll need an alternative.

If blood work and vitals are all fine, you are probably coming down with a bug the last 4 days.

I'd follow the doctors advise and continue the Lipitor for longer just to make sure you're not abandoning a valuable drug for no good reason.

ATR, You actually have an honest, ethical doctor!!!! Can't believe it!!
My friend had her Lipitor dose increased and ended up on crutches and physical therapy AND narcotics for the pain ! Doctor said it was sciatica or a pinched nerve. Oh, she suffered. Had to crawl up the stairs.
She is back on Lipitor now but hasn't been quite the same since ; she still has leg discomfort and tires easily. It is a terrible thing .
