another study

Here is another one of these studies that seem to come out daily saying that basically lowering homocystein levels does nothing to prevent cardiac events. Can be read at http://www.medpagetoday.com/Cardiology/AcuteCoronarySyndrome/tb/2836

Forget it!

Agree totally , it has gotten to the point of absurdity with every daily study saying something contradictory to a study that had come out previously . It is going to come out the way the financers of the study want it to come out .

Re: another study

Study conclusions seem reasonable to me IF you are talking about patients who already have serious heart damage...as has any merit in the war on heart diusease, it must be done at the earliest stages, perhaps even before the arterial damaging process was initiated.

Incidentally the AHA hasn't yet ruled on whether or not homocysteine is an independent risk factor for heart disease.

Studies seem to say that IF you already have heart disease, folic acid and B-vitamins in ultra-therapeutic doses probably will not help.

My God U sound like me........ Between what we read, see on tv etc. etc. they are going to make us all NUTS!!! Like everyone else I want to try and keep a balnce of things, but everyday what was good for us last week is bad for us this week. As I have said before, I just give up and will do things in moderation, and if it isn't good enough, oh well, I tried!!

AS far as the guidelines, if they lower them anymore, I don't think there will be a living soul NOT on meds. for something. With hubby being in the hospital, I see so many different view points. Most of them say his BP is fine, even though his top number goes up a lil at times, they say it is no big deal, yet his reg. dr. gets wacked out if it is over 135. Like alot of folks, I too am sick of the NUMBERS game!!

Have a good one, and TTYL...

Re: another study

JJ, Did I understand from your post your husband is in the hospital? If so I am sorry to hear it. My computer crashed from old age so I am on a new one and trying to adjust to things being different. I missed reading the posts while I was gone and realized how much I like to be informed about what is going on out there in the world. If your hubby is in the hospital can I ask what happened?
