How Much COQ10

Was on 10mg Zocor last year which helped my numbers alot but went off because of memory loss and muscle pain. Started up again in January with 5mg and although my memory is fine I'm starting to get the muscle pain back especially in my elbows and calves. I have an LDL problem and don't want to go off of Zocor so am going to start taking Q10 to see if that will help and am interested in what mg to take. Also for people who are taking this for muscle pain how long does it take to show improvement? Thanks

I believe that 300 mg of Coq10 should be taken. More will not hurt as it is an antioxidant. It is suggested that people with parkinson's take 1200 mg per day, as this was the effective amount (and not less) On parkinson's it decreased the symptoms by 44%. However, this most important part of coq10 on parkinson's is that it stabilized the condition, somthing that that dopamine based medications can not do. Also, it was in addition to parkinsons medications, not instead of. If you are taking beta blockers or calcium channel blockers, you are also depleting CoQ10. If you are having symptoms of CoQ10, Dr. DiMauro of Cornell suggest 600 mg of Coq10 to help repair the mitochondrial damage. Mitochondria turn over ever 6 months. Might take several 6 month cycles to repair the damage. Also note that Coq10 IS NOT a supplement. Coq10 is also manufactured by the body and is a vital nutrient.
