The Latest Statin Study/Investigation - High Cholesterol Message Board

It seems like in the middle of last year, that I remember reading about a major statin study/investigation that was to be released sometime last month (December). Does anyone have any information to share on this-or can point me in the right direction?

I checked last week. The Statin Study at UCSD in still in the process of writting the final publication.

Thanks...hopefully it was not funded in any way by the statin manufacturers. To me, that would certainly taint any of the findings.

No it absolutely was not. It was funded entirely by a grant from the National Institute of Health...(a government agency)..

I visited the site and found it to be a place to file complaints about statin side effects. Apparently somebody will tally the untoward effects at some point in the future.

Is there more to it than THAT? It seems easy for anyone to merely keep rechoosing different screen names and re-registering side effects. Alternatively any manufacturer can bombard the study with nefarious glowing letters of stupendous benefits and no adverse effects.

Unless there's more to the "study" than that, this is most definitely completely unscientific.

Enlighten me; what am I missing?
