Anyone understand these results - 7.2 - High Cholesterol Message Board

Called Dr's office today and was told my Cholesterol was very high - 7.2 Have an appointment on Thursday morning with Dr. to talk about it. I suppose she will want to put me on Lipitor.....my diet etc is good so I don't know what I can do other than meds
If anybody from UK or Europe that understands these results, could you tell me if they are dangerously high......I wasn't actually talking with the doctor today so I am a little scared

M/F >30 years - 2.0 to 5.19 mmol/L

M//F 19-29 years - 2.0 to 4.59

M/F <18 years - 2.0 to 4.39 mmol/L

Mine was 6.0 in February, reduced over a six month period to 3.7 in July.
I am on 10mg Lipitor and a very cholesterol friendly diet.

Thanks so much for your reply flowergirl. So it looks like anything over 5 really is on the hight side. I am 49 this year. You got yours down quickly enough thank god. Can I ask you - do you have to stay on the Lipitor for rest of your life or can you stop when it comes down and see how things go without meds? Just curious. The thought of more meds.....i am on bp meds
once a day and I was hoping that would be it, but it looks like my doc will want to start me on Lipitor. I will talk it through with her.

You have to stay on cholesterol lowering medication the rest of your life. Been dealing with it for 16 years... and my cholesterol always went back up when I stopped. Liptor works well for a lot of folks.

There are others beside Lipitor and statins. You just keep trying them until you find one you can stand. The one I can stand is Niaspan.

Just research cholesterol lowering meds and you will find them. Some prescription, some not. Good luck.
