i was put on vytorin 10/40 for a month now i have no side effects thank the lord go to the doc in end of jan 2008 for test results just wanna hear any lipid testemonies

I can't speak to Vytorin 10/40 but can as to Vytorin 10/20 in April 07.

Total=117, LDL=55, Tris=66, hdl=49.

I know everyone. Numbers to die for

but the side effects were not so good; muscle aches, sore, dizzy, low testosterone (I think), etc. I think there is something to be said for the argument that we need some cholesterol and too little can be dangerous just as too much (can be).

Regardless, I would advise you against adding onto the Vytorin 10/40. You are taking two drugs for cholesterol lowering and piling on would seem risky.

thanks for the info my cholesterols numbers were on nov 7 2007 tc=166 hdl=25 trig=70 ldl=127 sugars = 95 ac1 test=5.4 so then doc decided to put me on vytorin 10/40 to raise hdl and decrease ldl so thats why iam on it but its kinda weird because iam only 29 years of age male 6foot 4 245lbs

Did you get a second opinion? It might be worth it to see what another physician tells you?

I agree with Pat007. Your HDL (in November) is pretty low but the other numbers are good. It looks like they would come down even more with diet and exercise modifications. Plus, your HDL would seem to increase too. At age 29, you should be able to modify what you need to so that you could avoid the medications. Put it off as long as you can!
