LDL is rarely measured on most lab reports, but rather calculated from the other parameters using the following equation:
LDL = Total Cholesterol - HDL - Triglycerides/5
Most labs specify on the test report that LDL values may be invalid when triglyceride levels exceed 400 mg/dl.
