The following are the normal reference ranges for the above:
Total cholesterol- 112-200
Triglycerides- 10-190
HDL- 40-85 (this is the "good" cholesterol)
LDL (calculated)- 65-130 (this is the "bad cholesterol"
Your total cholesterol is way too high.....It should be 200 or less.
And I am surprised your doctor feels that an LDL of 180 is okay. This is very high. Given that your 'good' cholesterol, although within the ref range, is on the low side, it is not enough to offset the potential risk of such a high LDL.
You doctor is ill-informed if not downright negligent. Has he actually seen the report?
Was this a fasting blood test?
Please call him ....this is not okay. But don't get anxious....diet changes and exercise can usually fix your #s easily...(last resort would be meds.)
