Frequency of liver functioning blood tests? - High Cholesterol Message Board

I started on Zocor 4/04/03. July 15th I requested a blood test, which came back showing my liver function was ok. I was under the opinion that the blood test should be done after 3 months again. Today my doctor advised me that I should wait a total of 6 months for next test. Is this what the rest of you are doing, or is my doctor just putting me off? I thought if I had another good report after 3 months, then I would feel comfortable in waiting 6 months the next time. Comments?

Yes, I also thought 3 months was the norm. But, if you experience ANY side effects over the next 6 months, notify your doctor immediately. This is not a drug to take lightly.

At first I was checked after 6 weeks and than another 6 weeks. Now it's every 3 months by my PCP. The cardiologist who originally put me on it never mentioned that I needed it checked. He's no longer my cardiologist.
