Niacin flushing - High Cholesterol Message Board

I'm on my 3rd day taking Niacin. I've been taking 125mg of IR in the morning after breakfast. Today I went over to my sisters and she looked at me and said "your face is so red", I felt the flushing, but didn't think much of it. Is this common with such a low dose? Thanks

Yes. I was taking 100 mg each day for a while and I used to go bright red all over. It is perfectly normal. If it bothers you have a glass of cold water or take an aspirin with the niacin.

take it before bed, then you won't notice flushing.

yes when you first start taking it you will flush. I'm up to 600 mg. per day.

Thanks, the flushing is starting fade away.
