Fenofibrate for Triglycrides? - High Cholesterol Message Board

My husband (who also happens to have kidney disease) was recently prescribed Fenofibrate for control of triglycerides in his blood. He also takes Lovastatin for cholesterol control and the Mayo Clinic, (on their website), advises that there could be a drug interaction between these two meds.

Is there anyone out there taking Fenofibrate and a cholesterol lowering med at the same time?

I'd like to hear from anybody who's used Fenofibrate and their opinions (or reactions) to this med.

Fenofibrate is an alternative to statins. It has the advantage of both reducing LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL. However, it does also have most of the side-effects of the statins.
It should not be taken along with a statin.
