Angry Rotten Triglycerides.

Got my new numbers...
After losing 20 pounds and working out now, I've gone from a Cholesterol of 260 to 225. Great, since I cannot take medicine due to high Liver readings (over double).
LDL is 112 and HDL 58. However, Triglycerides are 327.

Re: Rotten Triglycerides.

Triglycerides are largely driven by sugar intake. If you go on a diet like "South Beach" and eliminate all simple carbohydrates from your diet, which basically means any goodies and most prepackaged foods, and focus on consuming complex carbohydrates, no trans-fats and minimal saturated fats, you might see the kinds of results I have where I dropped my triglycerides from the 390s to the 70s in 3 months. LDL came down nicely too!

This takes a serious dedication to changing from the typical American diet and eating largely natural foods in their unprocessed state, but it is doable and in time enjoyable too.

Re: Rotten Triglycerides.

...I follow a diet based on the Glycemic index to keep my Tri's down. white starches along with some sugars are the culprit. South beach is based on the Glycemic index but just eliminating sugar may not help. The Glycemic index is a way of balancing your diet so that it mixes the high glycemic carbs with the low glycemic carbs.

Re: Rotten Triglycerides.

Sugars AND any excess calories. Keep a good eye on both factors. My hubby is most often running high tri's too. Eat more veggies like cauliflower, brocolli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, spinach.

Re: Rotten Triglycerides.

Can someone point to the foods that are complex carbs , is there a glycemic index that I can refer to as my tri's are also high (220)
