Do you know what your HDL, LDL, and VLDL subcomponents are? Generally, high HDL with low LDL and VLDL is desirable, while the opposite is undesirable.
The usual non-drug ways to help things here:
Lowering LDL:
Avoid trans-fats from hydrogenated oils.
Avoid saturated fats from red meat fat, dairy fat, and coconut and palm oil.
Replace with unsaturated fats from vegetable sources other than coconut, palm, or hydrogenated oils.
Lose excess body fat.
Raise HDL:
Increase exercise.
Avoid trans-fats from hydrogenated oils.
Lower VLDL:
Avoid sugars.
Avoid alcohol.
Lose excess body fat.
