Cleaning up your diet, increasing exercise, and losing body fat should help your blood cholesterol numbers, but not everyone will be able to improve them to the point of not needing drugs (though that may allow using less drugs even in that case).
There are many other drugs, including both statins (of which Crestor is one) and non-statins, used for blood cholesterol. You may want to ask your doctor if there are others that are appropriate for your situation that may be less expensive.
