Eggs and Cholesterol

Hello all--I was reading that the Cholesterol in Eggs Is ok for you? I read this on Dr Ozs site and also heard him say it on TV and many other web sites My question is Why then is butter bad for you and any other food that have Cholesterol in it?? I really dont get it? The AHA wants people to have less the 200MGs of Cholesterol in their diet per day--1 Egg on avg has 200+MGs of Cholesterol-- Eat 2 Eggs and you already blew past your daily intake limit!! So my question is--How is The Cholesterol in Egg yokes at 200+MGs Each OK to eat its good for you--But stay away from butter cheese whole milk-Foods that also have Cholesterol-Not anywhere as high as eggs but over all they all have Cholesterol!! Its almost sounds like a scam to me-IS THE CHOLESTEROL bad to eat Eggs butter cheess milk meat-And why do Eggs with the highest amount of Cholesterol get a Good grade as in Eat your eggs they are good for you?? Something is wrong there!! My opinion.. Ok--Well have a great day all-Heading to my oatmeal and fresh fruit breakfast--I'll pass on the 400MGs of so called ok to eat Cholesterol egg Sandwich...

Re: Eggs and Cholesterol

The answer is, saturated fat.

One Egg contains ~5g saturated fat.
Dairy products vary significantly but butter= ~62% of it's weight is FAT.

The intake of cholesterol reduces the bodies production and vice-versa.

Re: Eggs and Cholesterol

So-Saturated fat is the answer? I couldnt figure out why Eggs with So much Cholesterol are safe to eat.. So then--that said--Eat up foods with high Cholesterol as long as they have LOW Saturated fat!! It sounds all good--But Why is it to this day We are always told to eat foods Without Cholesterol or Very Low Cholesterol--Thats where i dont understand the hype.. Is it good to eat something that has 300MG of Cholesterol and only a slight amount of Saturated fats? Personally entering that Cholesterol into our bodys doesnt seem OK but i'll sit back and watch... Thanks...

Re: Eggs and Cholesterol

Recent research carried out in the US, with findings confirmed in the UK has shown that since hens were banned from being fed bonemeal in the 90s', the amount of cholesterol obtained from a medium sized egg has dropped by ~13% and vitamin D has increased by ~64%.

Apparently a medium sized free range egg now contains only 100mg of cholesterol, which is only 33% of our daily recommended cholesterol intake of 300mg. (UK figures.)
So now over here in Europe, the 'scientist food police' have dropped the recommended weekly limit of three to no limit, because of the many other health benefits obtained from our dear old hen egg.

Research has also shown that eggs DO NOT increase cholesterol levels. Contradictions seem to appear every other year on this topic.....so I'll say...the latest research....LOL

Yack.

Re: Eggs and Cholesterol

The eggs here in NY still say 240MG of Cholesterol per egg I'm reading a current egg carton.. Eating Eggs (the Yoke) Which comes from Animals is now good ok to eat--How is that??? What makes the Cholesterol in eggs any different then say Cholesterol in meat-dairy cream-Sounds like Nonsense to me.. The AHA says Stay away from High Cholesterol foods Such as Shell fish-EGGS and so on--But Eggs now get dismissed as a good food--I dont get it! So eat some Dairy with say 20MG of Cholesterol thats bad but the EGG with 200+MG of Cholesterol is great eat up! Something doesnt make sense! Cholesterol is large amounts is not good for you-so why would the EGG pass as OK to eat?? Imagine--oh the Cholesterol in EGGS is good for you--REALLY???? But the Cholesterol in Whole mike and cookies and bread and cake--VERY BAD! I stay far away from RED MEAT and EGGS--I'm a 50 yr old male-i dont and never did smoke--My Cholesterol is 136 the good the bad all good numbers--my Blood pressure at rest is 110/67.. I DO NOT EAT FAST FOODS AND i'm on No meds! My opinion Red meat and eggs will get you down the road! Dont be fooled!

Re: Eggs and Cholesterol

Must have two and a half times the size of normal medium sized eggs in NY. Or, and this is more likely, it isn't truly a free range egg from a chicken fed on corn. LOL

Well done for maintaining excellent BP and Cholesterol levels Markaz....Keep it up.

ps: My BP was all fine till I hit mid fifties.

Yack.

Re: Eggs and Cholesterol

Yeah I watch my Levels like a hawk! I'm Walk 30 mins BRISK everyday outside or on my treadmill.. I DO NOT eat red meat fried foods or fast foods-and i never smoked.. I do eat Egg whites fish Vegs Broiled foods and so on.. Just took my pressure 20 mins ago at rest-102/65 Pulse 66.. Eat the correct foods-Walk brisk if you can--and your Pressure will come down! Thats right from the AHA! My lowest pressure reading at rest was 99/62 Pulse 64..
SMOKING-EATING things loaded with sugar and salt and eating fried unhealthy foods-DOESNT LOWER YOUR Cholesterol or Blood Pressure!!
Have a good night!
