| Re: High cholesterol
Hi PDQ,
Mine is a three year old story which I will share on here one day. Basically, I was placed on Simvastatin for the same reason as yourself, as I was suffering daily Angina attacks.
Since then I have researched and researched. Parts of my research led me to find out that only the highest dosages of certain statin drugs 'could' halt the progression of atherosclerosis.
Reports of regression of atherosclerosis has been published following a few recent studies, but by reading the reports in length showed that there were arguments about the said findings amongst the study team of scientists, or the regression was so small, that it was announced in a way that made the drug sound...shall I say?...more marketable.
Most of these type of studies are funded by the drug manufacturers.
40mg of Simvastatin for me did nothing to prevent any worsening of my condition and I landed up with a stent in the end. My cholesterol has always been 'ideal'.
Just a little info for you.
Yack.
