| 40mg Astorvastatin and Red Wine
Hi all
This is my first post, so hopefully I won't be repeating anything that's already covered!
I'm 37 and was diagnosed with suspected familial hypercholestrolemia last year. I was initially put on Simvastatin and then switched to Astorvastatin as the hospital consultant felt the level was not reducing fast enough.
I'm now on Astorvastatin 40mg daily. My overall and bad cholestrol levels have reduced to safer levels but my liver gamma gt is going up ...
It was circa 56 half a year ago and had risen to 75 on the last test (6 weeks ago).
On a lifestyle note, I enjoy drinking a generous glass or two of red wine a day (ok, often it's two!) but I'm now concerned that the combination of 40mg Astorvastation and red wine daily is going to cause me problems with my liver.
Can anyone advise if red wine is safe to combine with 40mg of Astorvastatin?
I don't really know if mid-70s is very high for liver gamma gt.
Thanks for any advice, tips!
