Christine,

His diastolic of 80 is ok, its the systolic of 170 that is high. How long ago did he quit the Ripped Fuel and Hydroxycut? Those are both dangerous products due to the ephedra contained in them, they will raise BP, heart rate, cause dizziness, restlessness, etc. not to mention the FDA taking most of these products off the market due to increase in heart attacks, cardiac problems, stroke, etc from taking them. He did the right thing by stopping the supplements immediately, however to be on the safe side, with the pain in his arm, he needs to go to the doctor and tell them what he had been taking, and let them assess his health further. I don't know if he took this for weight loss or energy, Im thinking more towards the latter since you mentioned his diet of fatty foods, which yes eating healthier will decrease BP, and is better on his heart.

My son also took that to lose weight and to get "cut" he also stated he had heart palps and sometimes felt dizzy. I looked at the bottle and it had ephedra in it. I told him he should quit taking it. He did for a few months and then started back again, which of course he started the palps again. He said he finished the bottle bcuz it costed alot of money. He has not purchased anymore thank goodness.
