yahoo!!! my bp has been normal for a few weeks now. So I took myself off that innopran and kept taking the diovan like i had been for the last 2 years and went to the docs yesterday and all is well..Lisa
Innopran is a B/P med? Did you take yourself off of the med. without talking to the doc? Just curious, because I am on Lotrel 5/20 & 100 MGS of Atenolol. I feel that I am over-medicated. Thanks. My B/P on the meds. is 116/66.
I spoke with another doc at the office i go to 4 days after he my doc put me on it and he said don't take yourself off of it we have to wean you off. I said what wean it's only been 3 days?? So I took myself off. I saw my regular doc and he said I did the right thing. ..Lisa
Why would that one doc. put you on it in the 1st place???? It makes no sense to be on a drug for 4 days. If your B/P is normal without it, you never should have been on it in the 1st place. Makes sense. I think that they over-medicate to cover their you know what....
I agree with the overmedicating by docs but this time my bp was high for a few weeks due to stress from my job so I asked them to check it and sure enough it was 158/98 on the diovan. I changed my stress levels at work and now my bp is back to normal. The overmedicating is a good point. They are making the pharm co's rich that's for sure and I believe that the gov plays a huge role in it as well. Don't get me started on that drug companies. I fought tooth and nail not to get put on meds but genes prevailed in this one..Lisa
When i stopped the toprol xl (had been taking it for 3 or 4 yrs) my endo said i didn't need the toprol xl. He didn't understand why my gp had put me on it in the first place. He (endo) told me not to take the clonidine also. My gp was angry. When i asked to see a cardio dr, he refused said he would not give a referral. My insurance won't pay w/o a referral. So, i went to ER and they referred me to a cardio dr for next month.

So happy to hear you are back to your original regimen and doing great!

I hope you think twice about continuing a relationship with any GP that refuses to give you a referral. That's shocking.
And good for you for finding a way around this!
Axe, wasn't a kick back in my case bcuz the manufacturer gave me 2 bottles of 100 pills free of charge. I still have a full bottle and a partial bottle. I now have insurance and ask for samples b4 purchasing meds. That's in case im allergic and can't take it.
Zuzu, yep, he is my ex gp. I am in a good place right now in my life. I come to this board, get suggestions and i read alot. Im ok. After quitting smoking, i noticed my bp dropped 10 points. I average about 140's /70's. Hopefully i will lower it more in a couple of weeks on my cholesterol regiment. My diabetes is finally under control.
