Cuff problem

OK, I'm off bp meds (yey!) however, I'm still keeping a watchful eye on my bp. Well, my piece of #*!& bp monitor is not working properly. It's a Samsung and I bought it because it came with a regular cuff and an extra large cuff. I've been using the extra large cuff because my arms measure 14" so, recently, the damn thing was screwing up and keeping giving me errors. So, I went to the reg size cuff. My bp has been 130/84 with that one; however, with the XL cuff it measured 113/83. Can I take the cuff size into consideration?

Re: Cuff problem

Cuff size is important. The general rule of thumb is it should fit snugly before inflating. If you have to pull the cuff hard to make it fit, that is not good. The cuff is to small. On the other hand, it can't be loose. Either way you will get a false reading.
