I was going to go to the doc. next Wed. for my 5th or 6th appt. this year. I am on 100 MGS of Atenolol & 5/20 of Lotrel. I wanted to be weaned off of the Atenolol, because of the side-effects, but they haven't been so horrible this week. Here are my #'s over the last month or so.

Not worried about my weight anymore. I put on 2 pounds in the last couple. I'm 5' 11" 150. I took my B/P this morning, but had coffee & 4 cigarettes.
If the appointment is cheap, or you are having a torrid affair with the doctor, go for it. But unless you want a drug change, don't overinconvenience yourself too much.
The appointment was supposed to be to wean off of the Atenolol (from my perspective). The side-effects have been a lot less this week. My stomach has been fine. I just was wondering with my #'s if he would back it. He wouldn't let me wean at 120/78, even though I have no heart issues & my blood tests are fine. I wasn't supposed to go back until January. It would cost $115. I have $100 deductible with my new job. I'm just trying to find the point. I wanted to go in 2 weeks ago when my stomach would kill in the morning, but they had no appointments available, wanted to schedule me with the Nurse Practicioner+. I'm just curious with my #'s if he would approve the wean. Otherwise, I will have to go to my specialist friend that is 1 hr. away. My current doc. is only a 15 minute drive.
Axe, if you really want to get this thing settled, you may have to drive that hour. At least there is a light at the end of your tunnel. Stop fretting and see what the doctor's appointment accomplishes. Best of luck.
Axe,
I tend to agree with bharkins...you have been really having a tough time and feeling lousy for months. Just because your symptoms have abated somewhat for a few days doesn't mean you should cancel this upcoming appt. You have absolutely nothing to lose in going in to talk about an Atenolol wean.
If you get off the drug you'll definitely have some new information. 1) You'll find out if you feel better physically, especially regarding your stomach issues and 2) You'll also find out if your BP holds steady at those great numbers without it!
