I caved!!!

Sorry guys but I caved and I'm back on meds. I got a lung infection that kicked my butt something fierce. When I went to the Docs on monday to get antibiotics my BP was 155/98. I looked at the nurse in shock. She said don't worry about it your sick and have a fever that's normal. I never told her that I had stopped my meds since the monday before nor did I tell the doc this. I was not upset at the docs I was ready to fall asleep from being so sick so the BP being that high kind of stunned me. I'm still not taking the zetia but I started back on the diovan tues morn. It is now the 3rd day on them. I have not taken my BP yet I have had too many aches and pains and too many other meds for the illness that I'm too focussed on. I'm not giving up though this sickness was a set back but as soon as I am feeling 100% again and monitoring my BP regularly I'm going to give it another shot...Lisa

Re: I caved!!!

I'm hanging in there...The unmedicated average for the the last 2 days (8 readings total) was 138.9/82.5. I am having SOME but little success at salt control. I like hot soups in the winter and I have a ZILLION cans of Progresso soups in the larder. These suckers all come in at nearly 2 grams of salt per serving (whole can for me)...

I KNOW I could cook everything from scratch, but life is too short. I do what I can: I won't throw out the larder but I'm shopping with an eye toward lower salt items.

I'll continue to squeeze my weight down milligram by milligram!

No need to do anything rapidly or drastically; I'm looking for lifetime control here, not just for a couple weeks!

Sorry to hear that your cave roof came doown on you, Lisa. Maybe you can try, try again. Remember, it's not good BP at the doctor's office that should concern us; it's the BP in a recliner in front of the tube!

Re: I caved!!!

I will be joining you Moxie after 2/16 when I go to the specialist. At 34 5' 11" 151 with readings like 112/62-68 on the meds., I have had enough with the side effects. Some of these meds. should not be on the market.

That's right Lisa try again when you get over your illness. I will be joining you as soon as I get the courage to start.
