High bp , ekg ok

I do not have any health ins til Aug so trying to hang in til then. I have been keeping tabs with a wrist moniter and not good... bp: flucuates high, 160/130, after sitting for an hour ( maybe due to cervical fusion I have?) drops down to normal when I lay down. Then bp: 148/110 after standing for awhile at an outing. I know when its out of wack, dizzy, headach etc. I had the good luck of a free ekg last wk end at my countys hospital, it was fine, and my bp there was only 148/92, standing. I am 49 yrs female. Does anyone know if severe back issues like I have could raise bp? ( ddd, osteoarthritis, fusion, discectomy) The fact that it goes down, sometimes real low, would mean not to worry? No chest pain, just get real light headed and dizzy. Wouldn't the ekg be bad if I really had a problem?

Are you in pain with your back problems? If so, yes it can raise your bp. Pain definitely raises your bp. I was diagnosed with hbp 4 years ago, and I've had several ekgs and they have always been normal. So you can have hbp with normal ekgs.

Oh yes! My pain level is very high when I stand or sit too long, makes sense that the comfort level is raising the bp! I also think there is some scar tissue on the nerves and compression causing the bp to jump, atleast it does go down when I am reclined after awhile. Just must wait til Aug for health insurance to follow up, atleast asking questions like this here helps me feel better!!! Thanks for your response Lavenderfields!
