Are you still off the meds and how's that working for you? Sorry but I have been extremely busy selling and buying a home and have not had much time to read alot of the posts but I am curious to how you are making out..Lisa
It went up a little too high near, 145/90-95, so after a month of nothing I went on just HCTZ, 50 mg. a day. That works as well as the Cozaar + 50 mg. HCTZ. Right now I don't know where I'll finally wind up?
I'll probably try again if I can drop a nagging 10 pounds. Lower weight helps my BP a lot.
Hopefully you can stay on one med/hctz and can controll it with just that. As for the weight I'm not sure if that is a factor with some people. I am not overweight and look at me. It's funny though with all this running around with buying the new home and selling the old one I have not been able to get into the gym for the last 3 weeks except for 2-3 days a week. That is a drastic reduction from the normal 5-6 days a week I had been doing for years. Strange thing is I am down a size. I'm not sure if it is I'm losing muscle or my appetite is not there due to low workouts. All I know is I cannot wait to see my blood results and BP at the docs on 3/1 to see if me not taking my zetia any longer caused my cholesterol to go up...Forever trying to get off meds, Lisa
Buying a home will shave off ten pounds EASY! God knows what it does for BP and cardiac health though.
Anyhoo, it's pretty clear that my only monotherapy would be a diuretic. So now it comes down to that or NOTHING. If I were convinced that there's no damage from a half lifetime of thiazides, I'd have no problems but alas, it's not likely the case.
I'll continue to work for that NOTHING. (Well, except for my mother's milk: Lipitor!)
