Another Medication Adjustment - Comments?
My Dr. started me on 5mg Norvasc. It reduced my numbers but not enough. He then went to 10mg Norvasc. More reductions in my numbers but not enough. He then added 25mg HCTZ. This hasn't showed any reductions. He now has suggested 15mg of Norvasc and 25mg of HCTZ.

Any comments? It seems that this is getting above the recommended maximum dosage of Norvasc. Have any of you taken this much Norvasc? Did it work?

Why doesn't he want to try an ACE inhibitor or ARB? This makes no sense. Again, Norvasc and a diuretic don't really compliment each other very well.

Oklahoma,

Even Norvasc's drug company PFIZER suggests a maximum dose of 10mg only.

Nowhere in their own literature do I see a recommendation to try for 15mg if no benefit is achieved on 10mg.

If Pfizer ain't pushing it, it sure makes me queasy that your doctor is! I can't even find any studies where more than 10mg amlodipine is recommended.

I myself would be interested to know if there is anyone out there who is on 15mg.
