I started back to work today after being hospitalized last week. I found out that while I was off my classes went wild. The subs let them get into my desk and things were stolen, paint was everywhere etc...
When I confronted the classes they of course denied it all and became really mouthy. I could literally feel my blood pressure rise. I checked it later and it was 158/ 83. Yesterday, at home it ranged 117/76 to 124/80 without meds ( I forgot to take them and by the time I remembered it was too close to next dose).
I found out yesterday that when I had my blood drawn last month the order was marked incorrectly and instead of doing a lipid panel they had marked liver panel, so therefore, my cholesterol level wasn't checked until I was hospitalized. The cholesterol numbers my doctor had given me last Monday were from over a year ago. My new numbers were total 267 on Thursday and 246 on Friday. My HDLwas down from 56 to 46 and my LDL was up from 140 to 160 (this was in comparison to last years lipid panel). I forget what my triglycerides were. I asked a friend who works in the lab how there could be such a difference and she said they probably took the first one during a "transference" which would cause a higher number. I'm still debating whether or not I should go on the Zocor. I really do not want to take more meds.
I don't doublt that my job can or could be my sole problem. It can be really tough. But as I tell my students, "Welcome to the real world"
P.S. I can't wait for spring break
