Zestoretic, any side effects?

Has anyone taken Zestoretic 10/12.5 by itself and had success? I was taking it with Zestrill, but another doctor switched me to Norvasc 5mg with the Zestoretic. Then I ran out and just took the Norvasc for the past five months. I found myself very tired, depressed, swollen feet, etc., so I have stopped the Norvasc the last three days and I am trying the Zestoretic today. I can't see my doctor until June 29th and can't reach him on the phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I posted in Norvasc and Depression and got a very nice response. I can't post a reply for reasons unknown and I don't know what the HCTZ? is to be taken with the Zestoretic. Thank you Lenin for answering me on the other thread.

Re: Zestoretic 10/12.5

My mother was taking zestoretic 20/25 but she had to stop due to severe side effects. She was sweating really bad, and had all sort of muscle problems and itchy rashes. She now takes clonidine+ verapamil.

Re: Zestoretic 10/12.5

Thanks for your reply, Lane. 20/25 was the dose I was taking, but cut it down. Trying to find something that works without side effects is a real job, because none of these drugs cure you, they just control the bp. I hope those drugs work out better for your mother.

Re: Zestoretic 10/12.5

Sleepyjoe, zestoretic is a good bp med for lowering blood pressure, but its not for everyone. The side effects were awful for my mom. I remember he ending up in the hospital once after taking zestoretic for a few yrs.

The verapamil is not lowering her bp and the clonidine lowers it for a short time, then she has to take more clonidine.

What else are you taking to lower your bp?

Re: Zestoretic 10/12.5

Hctz is hydrocholrathiazide, which is a strong water pill.
