digital readout cuffs vs. manual cuffs

Hi all, I have an OMRON brand auto-deflate (not inflate) bicep cuff with digital read-out. I decided to buy a cheaper Walgreens old fashioned kind, that you manually inflate and use a stethescope, and read the little meter thingie. Well on the manual one I get a higher reading. I start to hear the thump thump noise at a higher number but it's a soft thump thump and then it gets louder at the number I would like it to be at. But the directions say it's the first sound that you hear that you should record. Which BP cuff is the most accurate do you think? I have fresh batteries in the digital one so I know it's not that.

Re: digital readout cuffs vs. manual cuffs

The digital bp monitor would be more accurate.

I have also heard a faint pulse sound at a higher number. I started using my digital bp monitor and found that the readouts were lower.

Re: digital readout cuffs vs. manual cuffs

I have the digital omron and also the manual one with the stethoscope. I took both to my doctor and was told the manual one is more accurate. I have taken my bp using both and my diastolic is always about 10 points higher on the manual one but both systolic numbers are close so What I do now is when I take my bp I use the digital one and just add ten points to whatever reading I get for the diastolic (bottom number)..
