| Re: 21 with high blood pressure
She might get a bit of a boost in blood pressure numbers from being nervous, but from your description, it sounds like she does have high blood pressure. Do you know how high her blood pressure readings were? Has she been told to take blood pressure medicine?
I was taken off the Pill because I developed high blood pressure. There are progestin only pills like Micronor that she might be able to take - those don't have the problem estrogen pills do with potentially raising blood pressure. There is also another thread with a discussion of low dose birth control pills that some doctors are letting their hypertensive patients use. Your friend should discuss other birth control options with her doctor.
Sounds like your friend's whole family has very unhealthy eating habits. You can find all sorts of information on diet and high blood pressure, but if your friend won't read it and act, I'm not sure what you can do. Unfortunately it may take someone in the family having a stroke or heart attack to wake the rest of them up.
