Like a "lapsed Catholic"...someone who no longer follows the regimen. In other words, someone who has said "to Hell with it" and tossed out their BP meds.

Since some of these drugs are so miserable, it's often on the back burner for many of us.

I've stopped mine but don't consider myself "lapsed" because my numbers remain below 140/90, in fact lower than 135/85! I like the phrase " drug free formerly diagnosed hypertensive!"
