Hi.........I've been med free for a few months having good readings on my pressure, however, for a week or so I've noticed that my diastolic pressure has been on several occasions over 90. Does this mean I need to be medicated again? Can one have elevated levels occassionally without fearing the advice to go on medication again? I have had readings like 120 over 92, 135 over 92, etc etc. Is this bad?
I would check with your doctor but a diastolic pressure of 92 is high. Consistent readings of 140/90 is considered hypertension. After a reading of 140/78 my doctor put me on medication. Even though your systolic is normal your second number should be below 85...
Remember,
It's the RELAXED, AVERAGE blood pressure that is the sole concern. Do not worry about an isolated blood pressure reading. THe only person who has NO blood pressure swings is a cadaver.
If a monthlong daily average shows diastolic over 90, then perhaps medication is necessary...but not if the average is 85.
