Heart related symptoms or menopausal. - High & Low Blood Pressure Message Board

Hi all,

I am getting so confused over all my symptoms. How can you tell if you are having another serious issues besides menopausal symptoms since most of them are included in most serious issues. My problem right now is I am hypertensive, my BP goes up, I feel bad. My symptoms included drowsiness, dizziness, palpitations and just flat out tired. I get litle 'bouts of anxiety and I get hot flashes.

Now these are symptoms of heart related issues too such as a heart attack with the exception of chest pain.

I am 38 years old Wed. and I am getting so sick of these issues. I try to take care of myself all the time by eating right, exercising (when I can - which I don't while my BP is up) and taking my BP meds.

Another symptom can be caused by meds. How do doctors figure this stuff out? I have done an echocardiogram, heart xrays, EKG's and they were all fine. Went to ER many times with elevated BP and all tests were run on me and nothing!!!

What the heck could this BE!!!

sounds like it could be anxiety. i confused the symptoms of diabetes and menopause for almost 2 years. they are very similar and since i was diagnosed at almost the same time i went through menopause it was very difficult.

I certainly don't have any definitive answers, but I can say I know how you feel because the same things are happening to me! Between going through menopause, developing hbp, and taking bp meds, I can't always figure out what's causing which symptom!

For example, I never used to get headaches, but now I do. Is it the hbp, the atenolol, or a hot flash? Sometimes it's hard to tell.

I think the hardest thing for me is that I realize: This is the beginning of old age -- I can't count on getting up in the morning and feeling good. And if I don't feel well on a given day, it's probably not just a passing ailment, it's the result of a condition I now have that will never really go away.
