Lenin and some of the others on here know more about the side effects and effects from stopping meds than I do, so I'll leave your question about Atacand to someone else. I do think that if you lose those last 20 pounds, though, that there is a good chance that will improve your blood pressure. No guarantee, of course. Once in a while one hears of someone who lost weight and it didn't seem to make much difference in their BP, but that seems to be a definite minority. Some times even a few pounds can make a difference. Don't try to lose the weight too fast, though. A slow, steady weight loss averaging around two pounds loss a week or less tends to be better. One loses more fat that way instead of so much muscle, and it is more conducive to developing eating habits you can stick with and therefore be less likely to just gain it back again.
