Slozem or Brinerdin - High & Low Blood Pressure Message Board

Hello & merry xmas,

I am a high blood pressure patient and prescribed one medicine that I have to take all my life, Brinerdin. I am in London for a visit, I am left with 3 tablets only. Worried? Yes, no clinics opening till new years, and the pharmecists say they can't give me a medicine because I need a prescription.
Brinerdin is not made in the UK, therefore, they don't have it anywhere in UK.
I got hang of another medicine, Slozem 120mg. According to the medicine information leaflet it works the same way as Brinerdin. They both reduce high blood pressure.
My question is simple, to those experts (doctors) that might be around here. What is the difference between the two mentioned medicines, Slozem and Brinerdin? Is it ok to take Slozem after I run out of Brinerdin?
I am left with 3 tablets that would take me through 3-4 days. Clinics here are opening on the 2nd of January. Leaving a few days with no medication...I was thinking of taking Slozem but I need to know a few things before I do.

VASTLY different drugs. Slozem is the very common diltiazem available under MANY brand names...it's a popular calcium channel blocker.

Brinerden is a doozy: dihydroergocristine-reserpine-clopamide-hydralazine combination that seems available now in Germany and Atrica. Sounds like QUITE a combo heart medication...probably too scary for use in the UK. It is or was made by Novartis.

There aren't any health professionals or even health students here. They aren't allowed. Healthboard membership is basically limited to people with health problems, or personal health stories, in order to share experiences.

Oh...no worries...always nice to get some info

I did a little of my own research and found out that Brinerdin is also known as Clopamide. There is a medicine availaiable in UK called, Viskaldix, which contains clopamide and pindolol. I think when I visit the doctor, he is going to prescribe me Viskaldix.
Hmm, always nice to do some homework before going to the doctor.
Anyways, thank you all for your help...interesting to see how much knowledge people have here.
