Weakness due to high blood pressure

I have always heard that high blood pressure was a silent killer..My husband just had a weak and shakey spill so I took his blood pressure and it was 204/102.. This has happened before but I hadn't taken his bp before today..Are there symptons of high bp? Could this be one? Or did his bp go up because he had this weak and shakey spell?

I definitely would not fool around with numbers that high, he needs medical attention. Keep an eye on his BP today and definitely call his dr. in the a.m.

Re: Weakness due to high blood pressure

A blood pressure that high demands immediate attention no matter what the cause, and bp that high can cause symptoms.

Curious to know if the blood pressure goes down and this was an occassional occurrence, would you still recommend seeing a doctor?

Yes, as she stated her husband has had these weak spells before, but at that time didn't check his BP, so it may have been up then as well. No matter what, anyone who's BP gets that high needs to see a dr. and have it checked. Even if the dr. recommends keeping an eye on it at home, at least they are aware the BP has been VERY elevated at some time. If it is a BP problem, getting it under control is important, if not, they need to find out what is causing the spells and why the BP goes so high. JMHO

Re: Weakness due to high blood pressure

sense everyone else has covered the "get medical atention ASAP, thats way too high" part, here are some symptoms, which you asked for:

bad headache, fatigue/confusion, vision problems, chest pain, trouble breathing, pallips/irregular heartbeat, blood in the urine
