I despise Ativan because it is short acting and ends with a panic...just what it;s supposed to cure. I think it is also very habit forming...my mother got strung out on it.
I think diazepam or any number of benzo tranquilizers are FAR better for simple anxiety.

Dilantin is a tough bird. I have a friend who has been on it for 40 years. He said he was nervous one day a decade ago and I gave him one of my meprobamates (a mild old tranquilizer)...he went petit mal the first time in 5 years...I felt bad but he had no memory of the event , nor any lingering side effects.

I think your seizure specialist should make the call on whatever drugs you take...not your GP.
