Exclamation MIL hospitalized...not looking good

My MIL was taken to hospital by ambulance Thurs. night. She has been having problems with low blood pressure for a couple of years now.

I don't have any numbers but the doctor wouldn't release her because they couldn't get her BP up. They had her on a IV. We got a call this morning that her water had stopped and she lost control of her bowels. She also lost control of her bowels while we were waiting for the ambulance Thurs. night.

They catherized her (sp) and have taken her to a larger hospital in our area, about 3 hours away. They called the family to say that it didn't look good and if anyone wanted to see her they should come now. Two of my BILs went to hosp and said she looks awful but she was alert and knew what was happening around her. They said a Dr. had gone in ambulance with her and that that was a bad sign. Something about fearing she would go into a coma.

My problem is that my husband is out fishing (he's a commercial fisher) and is about 10 hours away. I don't know if I should get the coast guard to radio him in or wait and see what the next Dr.s have to say.

I'm worried sick and can't find much info in my web searches. Has anyone had to deal with this sort of complication? Any input would be appreciated.

wow you have a lot to deal with . I ve never had any experience with that but it sounds pretty serious.
.Do you know when you will hear next from drs.??How long will hubby be out at sea??
You have no way of knowing any more than doctors can tell you .If things dont improve or you have more info ,it might be best to get a message to hubby. You can only give your best guess.Hopefully she will improve . I hope someone can help with your questions . take care Mizzy

That means that her kidneys have shut down...at that point, they stop giving intravenous fluids. If she hasn't already, she will soon slip into a coma and death will rapidly follow usually in a day.
What was her underlying condition, long term heart failure? Several heart attacks?

If nothing else is killing her, they MAY opt for dialysis. But with a terminal condition, the kidney failure is often the one common denominator that defines the end. My mom lasted 12 hours after they stopped hydrating her after her kidneys stopped...congestive heart failure
