Question "Leaky" heart valve & hbp

Can a "leaky heart valve" cause high blood pressure? Does anyone know?

I would like to know this as well as I have Mitral Valve Prolapse and have had severl high BP readings (145/89) approx. I wonder if it could be related?

Re: "Leaky" heart valve & hbp

I have been dx with MVP for many years and never had a problem with my bp until recently and found out its related to stress. I do not allow the Dr office to take my bp anymore, I take it at home. Some people with MVP do not tolerate stress as well as other people do and that can cause bp to be raised. Btw I would not worry about your bp results. If you are concerned get a home monitor and take it at home

No, there should be no connection.

For horribly leaky valves the resulting lack of blood could conceivably result in LOW BP but there's no real mechanism to make it too high.
